This week, The Fed interviewed students around campus about their spring break plans. One student, senior Otto D. Loop, asked our reporters if they thought he should be starting to get at all concerned about the trip he and his boys booked to Tehran. “We’re leaving on Saturday, so I’m sure it’ll probably be fine by then,” Loop explained to us. He added that he’s “not super into politics,” but he is worried about the possibility of “bad vibes” in the country.
Our reporters probed further, asking when Loop and his boys began to think they should start getting worried about their trip. “Probably all the bombs and stuff,” Loop admitted. “But even then, it wasn’t like we were planning to get lit with the Ayatollah or anything, so we weren’t too worried. But then my boy Darren told us he saw a reel of Logan Paul’s podcast where he name-dropped Iran, and I think then we started to realize: ‘whoa, this shit’s actually happening for real.’”
Loop was alarmed when one of our reporters suggested it might be wise to cancel the trip: “I’m still pretty psyched about going. It’s senior year, who knows if we’ll ever all be free at the same time to ball out in Tehran again? I think we’ll regret it if we let politics get in the way of a good time.”
Loop eventually reassured us that if things took a major turn for the worse, he and his group might possibly consider rebooking their trip last-minute and traveling to another location: “Yeah, we’ve been talking about a backup plan. We’ve pretty much narrowed it down to either Khartoum or Crimea, I hear both are pretty nice this time of year.”
