Public Safety Warns About the Dangers of ‘ICE ON MORNINGSIDE CAMPUS’

As of this morning, Columbia Safety has warned students about ICE on Columbia’s Morningside Campus. Students are advised to avoid their biting tactics such as tricking students in poorly lit places about their sure-footed status. Students must be careful of the slippery steps ICE uses to control campus such as positioning itself in front of Low but even in smaller walking areas, affecting all students. Administration has responded to criticism from students, arguing to students that the university must support ICE’s tactics. Columbia University’s acting president, Claire Shipman, explained the University, “can’t control the weather,” and blamed bad weather, saying despite ICE’s attacks on students, ICE remained, “in line with our values.” Meanwhile, Barnard President Rosenbury, in her diary of intrusive thoughts—her Slack blog—compares ICE’s presence to a, “young woman who chose to dress inappropriately with no warm clothes in winter.” Tread carefully, students.
