After 3 years of dedicated, sub-par authorship on The Columbia Federalist, I pondered how I wanted to close out my legacy of (debatable) creative and comedic writing. Then, I got really busy and figured I’d finally try out this AI thing.
First of all, AI can crank out joke drafts, punchlines, sketch setups, parody lyrics, or entire satirical articles in seconds. It’s a huge win for beating deadlines—or just looking extremely productive while actually watching cat videos. Moreover, if I want to write like The Onion, John Mulaney, Key & Peele, or even a Victorian-era poet trying stand-up, AI can quickly adopt styles and tones to match—or parody—them, giving you a shortcut to genre-blending comedy.
In my extensive research, which consisted of one ChatGPT search, I learned that satire thrives on unexpected angles and sharp takes. Furthermore, I can bounce ideas off ChatGPT endlessly without worrying about judgment, intellectual property theft, or being ghosted halfway through.
And so, ChatGPT is my ideal comedy assistant, matching my tone and helping sharpen punchlines or beefing up irony without watering it down.
