What even is Colombia? Unlike Columbia, an Ivy League school with an endowment worth more than some countries’ GDPs *rolls eyes*, I had never even heard of Colombia until people started asking me if I could speak Spanish?? I can’t even name a single college in Colombia: Why would I be travelling all that way for a non-prestigious education?????
It’s just so frustrating that I worked sososososososo hard to get into the Columbia University in the City of New York and people don’t even know about it or keep confusing it with some no-name country. Ugh, I’m so shook. Like, I’m sure it’s a great country and all, and we’re lowkey twinning with the names, but if you’re a country and I can’t point you out on a map, then maybe you’re just a little irrelevant.
In lieu of this, I really really want to change the name of Colombia, because anyway WE chose our name a hundred years before they chose theirs, so we’re basically the original Columbians. Anyway, I would really appreciate it if you guys could join me in this collective effort to maintain our prestige. To do so, send angry emails to colombiagovernment@colombia.gov, and hopefully we can convince them to change their name!
